I'm looking into vacuum forming at the moment. I've had a little experience with it but it only works for medium weight plastics. I've worked a little with acrylic before (you have to be super carfull when sanding and polishing it because if you inhale any of the dust it's super bad for your lungs) and you use many of the same tools as for working metal - peircing saw, polishing stones etc.
huh. So you have a mold with a few perforations in it and heat up a sheet of plastic and place it over the mold and suck the air out? I assume that's how it works... gotto love "How it's made"... well, if you ever get around to watching the science channel or discovery now and again.
